I don’t think there isn’t a point in the week where I’m not craving something from Guzman Y Gomez.
As every Aussie knows, GYG are the best in the game when it comes to quality Mexican food on the go, and no one does it quite like the cult brand.
And now, just in time for summer, the popular chain is spicing up their menu with an item that has been five years in the making — the BBQ Beef Rib.

Now available nationwide, the welcomed addition has earned its permanent place on the GYG menu.

From lunch to dinner, the perfect BBQ Beef Rib can accompany any meal.
Whether it’s in tacos, a bowl or even a quesadilla — shoppers can get their hands on 100 per cent Australian beef with a deep golden, lightly charred crust and crisp edges, topped with GYG’s signature Chipotle BBQ Sauce for a rich, sweet, smoky flavour, charred in restaurant.
And after spending over a year in the kitchen getting the recipe perfect, the team have finally mastered their biggest launch yet.
“This is the biggest launch we’ve ever done, and we’re not slowing down,” said GYG Founder and Co-CEO Steven Marks.
“We haven’t added a filling in five years because it had to be right. No one else in fast food does what we do. 100 per cent Australian beef, Clean, made to order, and now you can get it in everything. We started GYG 20 years ago to reinvent fast food, and this is the next chapter.”GYG Director of Culinary Nate Appleman is an award-winning chef who trained as a butcher in Italy, so he knows great beef when he tastes it.
And two years ago, he set out to find a new cut of beef to add to the GYG menu.
“One bite, and we knew it was the one,” said Nate. “It’s the cut a butcher keeps for themselves. Deep, rich, juicy. Beef like this belongs on everything on our menu! We started with nothing but salt, because the beef is good enough to stand on its own.”
“Then we built it up: five hours low and slow until it’s tender and then into a hot pan in restaurant for a golden, crisp-edged crust, and Chipotle BBQ sauce on top for a rich, smoky finish.”

Made fresh to order, the new menu addition has been welcomed with open arms by GYG lovers and foodies alike.
It’s available from today at GYG stores to dine in, takeaway, drive thru, through Uber Eats and on the GYG app.
It’s an extra $2.50 on a regular, $1.30 on a mini and $0.80 on a taco — head into GYG restaurants rom 14 October, pick your favourite, and build your BBQ Beef Rib exactly the way you like it.
Cooked fresh and exactly how you order it, shoppers can get the BBQ Beef Rib in a burrito, Cali Burrito, bowl, tacos, quesadilla or Caesar, in mini or regular.
Go mild or spicy or double up on BBQ Beef — keep the Chipotle BBQ sauce or ask for it without, then load it up with fresh guac, pico and jack cheese.
