When it comes to my bed frame, until recently I’d never given it much thought.
We’d inherited a fairly decent, albeit old, frame from my sister-in-law when we first moved to Australia from the UK.
And it wasn’t until we moved into our new house and the frame just didn’t work in the space that I thought about getting a new one.

Given the fact that our bed is in front of a window (I know, feng shui), we had a few quite constraining requirements.
First up, it needed to be a frame that had a low enough headboard to not block the window.
Second, we needed some storage.
So when I stumbled upon Cozey’s new Ara Bed Frame (from $2,005), I thought it ticked a lot of boxes and was keen to give it a try.

Delivery and assembly
If you’re like me and get your heart set on something and then can’t stop thinking about it, you’re in luck with Cozey.
As soon as my order was placed for the King-Size Bed in the pretty boucle material, I didn’t have long to wait until it was at my door.
Delivery was absolutely seamless. I received a text in the morning that it was coming, and then it showed up within the allotted time frame window.
While there were a lot of boxes (around 12 in total), each box was clearly labelled with what was inside it and what number it was in terms of the assembly.
I’m not going to lie. Building it did take us the guts of a Friday night and into Saturday, but this wasn’t because the instructions or boxes weren’t clearly labelled, more just how much we under-estimated the time it takes to build a king-sized bed.
Having said that, once the assembly was finally done (approximately six hours later), we were delighted with the look and feel of the result.
Ara Bed Frame features
Once this bed was set up in our room, we could really marvel at its features and take advantage of them.
With four deep drawers, the bed seamlessly hides all of your underwear and pyjamas, while still managing to look super elevated in the space.
Having opted for an impractical cream colour, one of the best features of this bed has to be the fact that the covers are all removable and washable.
It comes in seven different colour options, so if you want a different hue or would simply like some flexibility, you can order different covers for different times of year.
You can also wash and clean your covers in the washing machine, meaning we don’t have to worry about the cream turning brown or faded.
The base of the bed frame comes in two shape options — round or square — and the headboard and footboard also come in different styles: rounded, pillow, square, or extended.
This means that unlike many other beds on the market, the Ara Bed Frame is totally customisable, and you can find exactly what works for your space.
While the bed feels and looks soft in a space, another great feature is that it operates off a sturdy steel frame. I certainly wouldn’t look forward to dismantling it, but hope we will keep it in place for a long time.
Ara Bed Frame review
Having slept on this bed for the past couple of weeks, I can safely say I am converted to Cozey Bed Frames, and in particular the Ara.
I can tell when I sit down on it, sleep on it, or sit up and read on it that it is well-made and carefully constructed.
The beautiful boucle fabric we chose also looks super luxurious and expensive in our bedroom.
The drawers are a fantastic hidden addition that gives us even more storage in a bedroom that is full of wardrobes.
My only caveat is it might have been better if they were slightly less deep, given it can be hard to open the one next to our bedside tables fully, given the fact that there are bedside tables there.
Over time, I’m looking forward to washing and putting the covers back on, and I’m even open to the idea of buying another set of covers, so we have a winter and summer bed frame option.
Ara Bed Frame verdict
Overall, I’d whole-heartedly recommend this bed frame to someone looking for a well-made, beautiful-looking bed with additional features like storage.
I love the idea that it’s highly customisable and changeable.
Say we ever move house (unlikely), it can be broken down and re-modelled, adapting to your needs and tastes as they change over time.
The only real downsides were the fact that it took some time to build, and probably requires two people to get the job done.
That being said, now it’s established in our home, I am delighted with the finished look and feel — and can’t really remember life without it.
