Laurie Daley has ended months of speculation surrounding his future by quitting as New South Wales coach.
The decision comes as details of a secret health battle come to light.

Daley is expected to officially confirm the news later this week, as well as the health issues that played a factor in his decision.
“What he’s suffering from, he will reveal later this week but it was a factor for quitting the Blues coaching role after winning the series,” 7NEWS Sydney’s Andrew McKinlay said.
“He’s a triple premiership winner, captained his state and his country — a genuine rugby league great.
“Our thoughts are with Laurie and his family.”
Daley defied his critics to pull off a famous series win earlier this month with the Blues defeating the Maroons at Suncorp Stadium.
The 56-year-old was out of contract and his future had been a hot topic throughout this year’s series.
Daley was heavily criticised for team selection when the Blues got hammered in the Origin II to square the series, but was able to recover in the decider to end his tenure on a high.
The NRL great first took charge of the Blues for the 2013 series, winning the following year to end Queensland’s eight-year domination.
But it was Daley’s only series win in his initial five-year stint.
He returned to the hot seat last year, falling short in 2025 before winning this year.
