This beloved mini Cuisinart food processor is down to just $33

As a former professional baker turned kitchen product tester, I genuinely enjoy cooking. But even those of us who love the kitchen have our less-than-favorite tasks. For me? It’s chopping onions. It’s not the chopping itself, but the moment my eyes start to burn the second I start slicing (hence the reason I wear onion goggles!). That’s why, about a decade ago, I bought myself the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Food Processor. I’ve spent my whole adult life living in cities, which means my kitchens have been downright micro — and while I was skeptical that this little machine would be powerful enough for my needs, lo and behold, it’s proven itself to be an invaluable tool in my arsenal. Intrigued? You should also know it’s down to $33 (from $50).

Why is it a good deal? 💰

This kitchen whiz is just $33 thanks to the discount plus on-page coupon, so if you’re considering it, my recommendation is to snag it while it’s over 30% off. For a multitasker like this one, this price is a steal — and it may not last once the holidays start to roll in.

Why do I need this? 🤔

As mentioned, I don’t have a surplus of kitchen storage space, but the Cuisinart Mini-Prep is small enough that I can fit it in one of my cabinets and still have room for pots, pans and the like. Its 24-ounce bowl is large enough for almost all of my needs; I started out using it for onions, which I’ll quarter before placing them inside. I can fit about two onions at a time, and in seconds, they’ll be chopped to my desired size. Success!

In the decade or so since I bought it, I’ve also used it for quickly making my own nut butters, smoothing out sauces and mixing up cookie and pie doughs. It even does a stellar job of whipping cream, which means you probably won’t be seeing me whisk by hand ever again.

I appreciate how user-friendly it is; there are just two options, chop or grind, though you do need to keep pressing the buttons down for it to work, rather than just letting it go while you move on to another task. Honestly, I’m fine with this, since I rarely need to pulse for more than 30 seconds total, and it gives me more control, whether I want to keep things chunky or reduce them to a pulp.

One note I do have is that it doesn’t have a feed chute like many larger models do, and there aren’t any extra slicing disks. But I’d rather have a smaller version that’s not a pain to get out several times a week than deal with a bulky behemoth. As far as cleaning goes, the bowl and lid are dishwasher-safe, though I prefer to wash by hand because it takes hardly any time. That might be why mine still works just as well as it did the day I got it.

What reviewers say 💬

I could go on and on about my love of the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Food Processor, but I’ll let some of its 25,000-plus Amazon fans take the mic.

Pros 👍

“How did I live without this handy product?” mused one convert. “The size is perfect. I love making salads with all kinds of veggies, and now I don’t spend hours chopping everything! At Christmas, it was perfect for chopping all the walnuts for walnut Bundt cakes. I’m not the best cook, but this makes my life easier.”

“This is the perfect chopper for making meals for myself and my husband,” shared another. “I have the large Cuisinart, but now, as empty nesters, I wanted something smaller and not so heavy. I can chop onion, celery, green pepper and garlic quickly to make chili. I use this so much. Does a great job [of] chopping; not too fine and not too coarse. Saves so much time. Very easy to clean.”

“I did not realize how small this was compared to food processors that I have bought in the past,” admitted this nut-case. “Yet I was pleasantly surprised. It does the job extremely well. Chopped all [of] my roasted almonds, cashews, etc. almost, if not better than a larger food processor. I am very pleased with it. I will take it along in my suitcase when I travel for short conferences and business meetings abroad!”

Cons 👎

“It works perfectly. Very easy to move and store,” wrote a mildly miffed multitasker. “My only complaint is that it doesn’t have any additional blades for slicing or grating. Other than that, it’s great.”

“My only minor complaint is it’s rather noisy,” said this forked-tongue fan, “but as it’s only run for a brief period of time, it’s a non-issue for me.”
